View Full Version : another noob.
Hi all,
Ive suddenly (not 2 sure y) been taken over by mini-fever.
I will hopefully be looking into 1 in the near future, but atm havent got quite the funding i need. Hopefully this is nothing a couple of paycheques wont fix!
Just making this thread to introduce myself and say hi!
And i hope to be annoying u all alot more in the future :D

Hello Spud
Weeellll,
Nothing in particular.
My plans r really to buy a car suitable for wot i want to do: basic/cost effective tuning leading onto a very eventual (and crazy) engine transplant 2 a bike engine :p (such as a busa or something similar).
For the time being however, i hav no clue as to which year to look into. I've been told the earlier models are easier to tune due to simpler mechanics, but tbh i'm not too sure as to how reliable my source is...
Any help would be most appreciated :D
Cheers

If insurance will be a problem for you, then tuning a 998cc is a good start. You can get these up to about 70-80 bhp with the right mods. Alternatively you can get a 1275 and tune it up to about 110bhp. Its easier to tune cars that have SU's rather than injection fuel delivery systems.
The basic A series engine hasn't changed in design much since it was introduced in the first mini's, so I'd start with getting a car with a nice solid shell.
Insurance isn't really a problem depending on wot "expensive" is, i'd b willing 2 dish out 2g a year tops (no more tho, im only 17 n workin 19hours a week).
Im assuming a nice solid shell can b obtained 4rm ne of the models?
Were the a-series engines produces 4rm the 60s right on through to the 90s?
Is the 1275 engine available 4 the different gen cars?
SO MANY QUESTIONS, SUCH LITTLE TIME
god im a noob (as previously mentioned)(forgive me)
peace
EDIT: OO, ive also read abt some crazy suspension system in the l8 60s i shud avoid..? (hyper sumthin? i duno)

Hi spud and welcome to the messageboard.
The crazy suspension is probably the hydrolastic system when they decided to replace the rubber cones with bags of goop for a few years!!
