emissions problems now as well!

hi all,
still haven't sussed the rumbling but it wasn't picked up on the mot; however it did fail on emissions; they are very high. Not really sure if this will be easy to sort or a real pain in the backside as have had engine management probs for a long time. Does anyone know what mini speed are like for working on your mini? I'm gonna have to take it to some one who knows and has all the right diagnostic equipment.:mad:

is your a injection or a carb engine ?

Minibizz out near Lewes are good.. if its just a basic tune and adjustment then there are a few BMC members who can do that (not me... yet ;) )

it's mpi unfortunately! Minis, gotta love 'em but there's always something to repair...

Pat reckons - more than likely if it has failed on the emissions the lamba sensor will probably need replacing or cleaning. Usually you can just clean and replace them It is located on the downpipe on the exhaust system at the back of the engine. The lamba sensor manages the fuel system, it registers how much Co emissions you are chucking out. If it thinks you are not rich enough it sends a signal to the ecu to send it more fuel. But if it is covered in soot, carbon etc it will send a false reading. Sometimes just by cleaning it up it will send a correct signal. Problem sussed- hole in the exhaust letting air in- luckily very simple and nothing wrong with the lambda sensor.Ta!
