Hi all,
First big challenge for me and percy earlier on this week was driving allll the way to Nottingham and back!!
Tuesday 13th
He ran like a dream on the way up, got there, after a trip to asda to pick up some food and drink for my sister and my friend narissa he started belching and juddering, lost all power, and finally gave up in what must have been the most awkward place in nottingham (first in a red light queue to turn left ON a hill at a t-junction). Needless to say, I was fuming at this point, ordered my sister into the drivers seat, shouted at some local kids who found it funny, and waited for the light to turn green and a space where we pushed him over the hill and around the corner to stop at a more convenient place.
My original idea is that it was the lower grade petrol I had been forced to put in as we reached notts, so i was on a mission to find a place which sold some higher grade fuel. SO, after yellin at the girls to stay in the car (where they sat drinking cheap baileys like liquor) i was walking/running miles along this road where i FINALLY bumped into a tescos metro, went inside, bought a fuel can and went back outside looking like a mug in the queue of cars waiting to fill it up. Got back to the car (eventually), filled him up, got back in and drove very gingerly in the direction my sister was SURE led back to the halls. Well, those directions were wrong and we ended up driving for miles over town, cutting out at all traffic lights and shouting at plenty more local pikeys, until we finally made it home. I was very very stressed and had to be avoided for a while.
Very odd night that night (drank abit too much, got kicked out of notts biggest club and ended up sleeping until the rest of people found me in the middle of a road against a lampost on an island).
Wednesday 14th
Woke up feeling a little worse for wear, my suspicions were confirmed when the (suprisingly helpful and friendly!!) rescue guy came round and told me i'd been driving miles on 3 cylinders!!! And that i needed some new spark plugs. Luckily there was a parts centre about 20 metres down the road where i bought some new ones and also a plug spanner and then continued to get that all changed (PHEW!!).
SOOO we finally set off back to brighton, where i filled up with V POWER 99.9 octane which i recommend to ANYONE cos it's awesome.
Hit the M25, very very very bad traffic, then suddenly my throttle pedal dissapeared under my foot (i was very confused as was narissa). SOOO, out we got again on the fast lane of the m25, pushed it to the side, had a look and realised the pedal had somehow got detached from the linkage wirey bit. Various people asking through the window "are you broken down mate??", and narissa getting more and more worked up.
Luckily i managed to hook it back up and then put loads of tape around it and off we went again!!
Clean run once we were out of the traffic all the way home...
OH, and then I sleeeeeeeeeeeept zzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
I think in the end it's only brought me closer to my legend of a car :)
