I was annoyed with my rusty chrome bumpers and really wanted to do something with them before Brooklands. I had heard good things about a product called Autosol, it is an abrasive paste metal cleaner

http://www.frost.co.uk/images/product_Images/8896.jpg

£4.00 from Frost, also available in hellfords etc (http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8896&frostProductName=Autosol%20(100g))

You apply it to the metal, rub it in and can feel it working on the rust and mank. When you are happy that it's removed all the crud wipe it off and buff with a clean cloth.

The tube is big enough to do all the chrome on a mini a good 5 time I would guess.

Autosol gets the RNRMF 'two thumbs up' award.

Good find Daz. When you've finished cleaning up Lola's rust you can have a go on Rufus's if you fancy!

Cool. I'll have to get some of that suff for mine. My front one is rusty and the rear one is really dull and dirty. Nice post Daz

Maybe something like this could be a regular thing. If someone finds a tool or product that is really good and useful they do a little review and post pics??

I'm glad i've inspired y'all to get out and clean your minis - we'll be a good looking bunch when we arrive at Brooklands :D

Does anyone else find cleaning their mini properly theraputic or am I just weird?

I would enjoy it if I didn't have Pat telling me i'm doing it wrong all the time! As he's such a "professional" 'd rather leave it to him. Daz - you are not weird at all, you love minis!

I have used that stuff in the past , but i thought it was just waht everyone used. Core blimy, if you haven't been using it, then you have missed out. For the money unbetable.

Heh hee, I used to use Brasso, cos it was cheaper!

I've not washed my mini in 9 months though... I might do it before I come back down to Brighton. I used to spend about 2/3 hours a week cleaning the car, applying loads of crazy shapoos, polishes and blah blah....

Now I'm too lazy.
