Run a wire from the igntion side of the fusebox to the positive terminal on the coil
Connect the white wire from the distributor to the other positive terminal on the ignition coil
Connect the white/black wire from the distributor to the negative side of the coil
Insulate and secure existing wiring that was attached to the coil

Ok so i pretty much scrap the old ballast resistor cable and any others and just wire it up as said. When you say ignition side do you mean before the fuse and do you mean a supply that is only on once the key is turned?

Yep, ballast side is not needed but it wouldn't be the end of the world if you leave it connected.
Yes you only want voltage there when the key is in the igintion position. If it was a perment supply, then the engine would keep running until you disconnected the battery
I would personally take the ignition feed from after the fuse, but to be honest its not essential.
If you car has a rev counter you might have to keep one of the black and white wires as the rev counter gets its pulse from the negative terminal of the coil.

Are you sure that you have the firing order correct? The cylinders are numbered 1 -4 from the radiator end !! The No 1 lead on the disributor is usually at the approx 2 o'clock position and then connect them 1 3 4 2 going anti clockwise from there.
Have you actually removed the whole distributor? If so you need to check the static timing.

yep i have removed the intire old distributor and replaced it with the electronic one. When i set my engine to the tdc the rotor arm points to about 7 o-clock?

got it working. Like a numpty i forgot that the rotor arm turns anti clockwise so the leads were incorrect! Also turned the engine 360 so that the tdc was at 2 o-clock not 7! Thank you very much for the help. I'm very appreciative.

oh it is on the road already it was just an upgrade as when ever there's even the slightest bit of moisture in the air my mini will either not start at all or misfire constantly whilst driving!!

Cool, might have seen you driving around Brighton. Any pictures of your mini?
Got any other mods in the pipe line?

I've done most of the mods i want already really. The only thing i really want to do is get some new wheels and sports arches but im not 100 percent on that as i do like just having the mini lites an usual black arches. Some mods i already have done are:
Carbon dash with smith's gauges
Re-wired all the old glass fuses and replaced with a blade fuse box
Re-spray new panel's ect.
Re wired all bullet connectors (my battery lasts an charges great now from that) i suggest this and replacing the fuse box to everyone.
I've put on a straight threw exhaust to a centre exit cherry bomb.
Oh an the all important cigarette lighter socket an internal bonnet release!!!
Probly a few more but can't think at the moment.
