hello one and all and Happy Christmas!!
The names Ben but my friends call me Whitey...i have an 84 mayfair which is a little sick at the moment...gearbox probs!! I've already been made very welcome on here and chatted with michelle, minus, Darren and RNRMF who have all been helping me with my little problem...thanks alot guys!!
this is my 4th mini and i do love them so...1st was a 79 which was actually my first car so i didn't really treat it very well...which is gutting now as it was a classic story of old lady owner from new, garaged, 20k miles, totally original etc and i basically ****** it :o... 2nd was another mayfair 'lulu', bright orange loved it and some twat in 4X4 reversed into me and wrote it off....3rd was a piccadilly 'eeyor' with a cooper engine in it went like the proverbial **** off a shovel but had my second kid and had to let him go..was bad body anyway and prob would've had to get some serious work done it!! and now my little 'Arnie' after swarzenneger which is pretty cool..only had him a couple of months and already got probs...nnnnooooo!!!
anyway writing a novel here...hope to join the mini club soon..and hope pat and faz can sort me out too!!
cheers

Hi Ben and welcome to the forum. Sorry couldn't sort out your posting problem, but good old Daz (RNRMF) has done the trick I see. Hopefully between the guys they'll be able to get you another engine etc sorted so you can come along to a meet soon. Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year. I'll listen out for the morning beep.

Hi Ben welcome to the forum....
Whilst Pat and Faz may come across as a bit Delboy and Rodney.. well actually more Arthur Daley and his minder.... they are good chaps to deal with and have done various mechanical and bodywork / paint jobs on my mini .... starting with a rear valance, boot repair and respray of rear which Pat did a beautiful job of... Faz has practically rebuilt my car - new callipers, discs, pads, suspension mounts, plated various holes and rebuilt a door sill and door post. I plan to get them to finish the mechanical bits outstanding, repair a hole in the wheel arch and then strip and repaint Tommy Cooper around August time next year. (I also have a plan B up my sleeve that involves new door and a door skin and all other areas of rust treated, new shocks and cones and then run it for a while as a patchwork quilt and respray early 2009)
Anyhow thats enough about my car .... what are your plans for Arnie ?

Ive seen the mini Rio and its falling apart, the doors are shot the A panels blown and the 1275 engine is as smooth as Pats stubble
Seriously Ive has a quick look at that Rio and its a really solid looking mini with none of the usual rust problems and a good engine.. im afraid Im too attached to Tommy to do the sensible thing and sell him and buy another... i will just throw money at him and do what I can in terms of fixing things until he is tip top :p

yeah i'm a bit of a mini slut...use abuse and move on to the next one  i'm kidding of course...arnie's in good nick body wise...but needs the engine and paint job experts in and i just can't afford it...but the rio is gonna be a keeper for sure...gonna get him lookin bad ass eventually!!
