Hiya all! Just thought I'd stop in and introduce myself and my recently aquired ickle pickle of a mini!
Me and the old girl have already shared one unforgetable adventure, basically I'm happily pottering home down the M1 after purchasing 'ickle pickle' not 2 hours before when her nsf wheel fell off!!!!!!!!!! After sliding or rather grinding to a halt in the hard shoulder, I watched in horror as the wheel bounced accross the motorway - thankfully it came to rest in the central reservation without hitting a thing!
Anyway me and the old girl finally made in home (via the AA) at around 2am after setting off at 10 that morning! Needless to say a little tlc has become major rebuild and it's unlikely that ickle pickle will be feeling up to meeting you all just yet, thou I'd really like to pop along to a meet and say hello if that's ok?

Should have said 'ickle pickle' is a 1971 tax exempt mini 1000, who's had an aftermarket soft top added.

Hi, well I've had my tyre disintegrate whilst doing 70 on dual carriageway but not gone 3 wheels.. at least minis have enough of a rigid suspension that you didnt have a complete wreck on your hands
Welcome to BMC forums.... feel free to ask for advice on your rebuild

Hi Nittietart and welcome to BMC forum. Do you have a real name? Sounds like an adorable little bundle of hard work that you have on your hands there, any photos?
You are more than welcome to come along to our next meet - Tuesday week I think, at The Swan Inn in Falmer. Maybe you're even join the club - if we don't scare you away that is!
Michelle.

Decieving photo's thou these, as she's full of rust and has been painted with a roller including over her old stickers!
Here's a close up of her damaged wing where the wheel came off. You can see some of her rust here too...

Now, we never got round to having the drive put in so 'ickle pickle' had to get a little lift so we could get her off the road and get started on the repairs!

And here she is today - almost totally stripped - bless!

Hi Erica :D, warm welcome to our mini mad club (or should that be mad mini club ) forum
That incident you had of the wheel falling off must of been pretty scarey, glad there were no injuries.
Those top two pics certainly are decieving! I think that's the first time I've ever heard of someone painting a car with a roller!. Love the pic of her on the fork lift. It does seem like Ickle pickle will need a bit of work doing and your husband sounds like a good bloke for taking it on (or didn't he have a choice?)
Hope to meet you soon, our next meet is Tuesday 13th as Michelle said it's at the Swan Inn in Flamer from about 19:00-19:30 so you're welcome to pop along :)

Hiya Darren
It took just over a week to strip her down and lose all the paint. The bonnet and bumper have been sanded and primered now and all her chrome work has been cleaned and wrapped so it'll be ready for later. The other half has been working on the front and rear subframes at mo - cleaning up all the arms and replacing all the bushes with poly ones. Sure progress will slow once the welding starts!!!!!

Wow sounds like very quick progress so far. A big job you've got on your hands there - but will be well worth it in the end.
