I have been running my car today (completely dry).
The revs have started fluctuating when ticking over and I'm getting missfires again especially when I put my foot down. I am getting shocks touching leads near the distributor connections.
I have new points / leads / distributor cap / rotar arm / plugs
Any Ideas??? Will this be the coil? / also is it nomal to get shocks off the leads if you touch them?
Cheers
n you shouldnt get shocks, this means your leads have broken down, get new leads - good ones!

Okay Cheers Mike,
They are new but they're just halfords ones.
I will invest in some better ones.
Do you think this is the most likely cause of the random missfiring and even the fluctuating revs?? - I suppose in the wet this problem is magnified aswell??
Thanks
Dave

I have been given a price of £20 for some Bosch leads - these should do the trick shouldn't they??
y bosch are good, if your getting shocks by just touching dry leads, this means the isulation is either faulty or just plain crap. you'll probably find that the missfire is the leads earthing. Even if it doesnt cure it, you shouldnt get shocks full-stop so change them anyway.
Just as a pointer, you often find people dont push the leads home all the way on the plugs or the dizzy cap - just make sure they are pushed fully home, they should 'click' when inserted fully.

Cheers for the advice
