Yo.
Quick question, where is the best place to take a live feed for a ciggy lighter from? A guide on minifinity says use the main feed where it bolts on to the starter - does this sound OK?

Any constant live 12V feed should be ok.. If somebody has used the one from the starter ok then at least you know you're not the first (unlikely with almost anything on a Mini anyway...)
Just make sure you put a 10A or 15A fuse inline as a safeguard. 10A ideally, but it depends what you want to use the socket for now everything to do with in car entertainment tends to use them...

you can also take it from the switch live feed off the stereo.

starter is best for a feed and 10amp fuse as mini electrics are not use to extra loads a seperate loom of its own is always best

DAZ CAN I SUGGEST THAT YOU PUT AN ON/OFF SWITCH IN LINE AS WELL
BECAUSE A PERMANENT LIVE FEED TO WHATEVER YOUR RUNNING CAN BE A PAIN
WHEN YOU HAVE TO PLUG AND UNPLUG IT TO STOP IT DRAINING THE BATTERY WHEN THE ENGINES NOT RUNNING.

i took mine off the ignition switch permanent live, fed it through a 10a fuse, then a switch mounted next to rear fog switch.
the ignition wires are the four or so on the steering collum in the car, the brown one was a perm live for me
use a test light and disconnect the battery once you have found a live
