This is a fault which has been getting on my nerves over the last month.

they go on and off over bumps or when I accelerate/brake. I have changed fuse's as I was told this could be the issue.
And also wiggled the cables at the back of the dials trying to find a loose connection.

It is getting more and more worse by the minute. basically now they do not work unless i floor it they will some times click on.

loose connection some where?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, almost certainly a bad connection, earth or otherwise.

I'm not sure where they earth the instrument panel, but I presume there's something behind the dashboard. You'd need to find it, unscrew it, clean up the metal with a bit of sandpaper and screw it back down.

Does the rear light flick on and off or is it always off? Have you tried replacing the bulb? Might be an unrelated fault, especially if the offside works fine. Checking the earth for that one is a bit annoying as the fuel tank has to come out to get at the back of the lights. Not too much of a problem but do it whilst it's nearly empty, much easier than maneuvering a 30kg lump around.

thanks tom & chrisis.

A bad earth is what I'm leaning towards after reading lots on the web.

The rear lights go on and off as I accelerate/break or go over a bump. Sometimes they will stay on for a while until i brake a little hard. which will knock me out again. that's why i said bad connection as it seems to effected with movement?.

What bulb? Dash or tail light or both?

Got my uncle coming down tonight and were gonna try and tackle it! Fingers crossed it gets resolved.

I'll let ya know how we get on.

James

If all the side lights (including the tail lights and dash lights) go on and off together I'd reckon a bad connection within the live section of that circuit before the bulbs. Rather than a bad earth. The dash lights and rear lights would a;most certainly be earthed separately so if they're going on and off together that would make me think a bad connection at the switch or fuse box area.

Its not all the side lights.. Just the N/s tail light and dash light everything else is fine and working.
Not going to get into tonight now, get into it over the weekend when I have some good light.

Thanks
James
