View Full Version : Rust patches
I haven't had my mini long and I have absolutely no experience when it comes to repairs/restoring, I have a few patches of rust that need to be dealt with. I was thinking of getting a rust remover kit from halfords. I also need the right paint, which I am not sure how to apply.
My mini is a 1990 checkmate with paint code RZC. Which I think is a combination of PMF (black) and NMZ (for the white roof).
I just need the black paint. Does anyone know where around brighton or online I could order it?
Can any body help?!?!?!
Thank you =]

Hello and welcome to the forum, if you're local make sure to get along to a meet so you can introduce yourself for reals and join the club :D
What sort of rust are we talking here, surface rust, bubbly patches, crusty bits, full on holes? Essentially, to do the job properly you'll need to get rid of all the rust which usually means sanding/wire brushing/whatever tools you prefer-ing the rusty area back to bare metal until you are left with either
A) clean metal that needs a skim of filler and a respray
or
B) a hole that needs welding up, grinding back, a skim of filler and a respray
As George says, Autopaints Brighton (who are confusingly in Hove) will be able to sort you out for paint.
I've got mostly surface rust and some thats bubbling under the paintwork.
Thanks for your help :D

Hi how are you getting on with your rust patches
I am currently repairing mine and probably will give it a full re spray
If you want pop down to my workshop I can show you what I am going to do to mine it might be useful.
I'm not a pro but am tackling it myself
Also can help with paint of you need it.
