Hi Guys
Colm has mentioned getting a nice new exhaust for his mini, in his garage thread here
http://www.brightonminiclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?3326-Just-Like-That..../page5
Question I have is will this fit my mini? Sick of my peashooter, was wondering if colm knew and asked in his thread, but need to ask in here i have been told!wink
Also if it does, where do I get it from?
Thanks
Steve

What engine and system do you already have? e.g. is it a standard system with single piece cast inlet and exhaust manifold or do you have an alloy inlet manifold and LCB/3-2-1 exhaust manifold already? Do you have a cat-convertor in your system and if so do you need/want it or can it go if required?

pass pass pass and pass
Its a 1275 mpi, with a standard pea shooter.

Steve this is to fit an LCB - im fairly sure the fletcher back box will it your cat centre section its the single donwpipe to the CAT thats different about your car... I have a 12 month old RC40 tail pipe (side exit) at Phatz that you can have

It will if you get a cat back pipe as pictured (the smaller pipe) not too difficult to fit either.

but may as well get mild steel as the back box of the rc40 is mild and not stainless steel

thanks for that colm, but I am sitting here totally lost and not understanding.
What am I supposed to be looking at? So that pipe come from the cat to the back box, and replaces the middle box???

Yeah, your exhaust system from front to back is made up of...
manifold/downpipe ¦ CAT ¦ middle section ¦ back box
...so, you want a 'CAT back system', all the components from the CAT backwards, e.g. a middle section designed to bolt up to a CAT (can be straight pipe - louder, or with a silencer - quieter) and the back box of your choice.

Thanks Daz and Colm and Faz.
I dont wish to sound like a numpty, but if you dont know, the only way to find out is to ask.
So if I get that centre pipe, it will fit Colms RC40 back box, and fit onto my exisiting system, so I understand now. If I get it can you fit it for me Faz?

True, I'm a firm believer in "the only stupid question is the one you don't ask".
In true Columbo style...

"one last thing..."
what sort of exhaust mountings do you have? It will either be modern style rubber hoop hangar thingies or metal clamps on metal brackets (I would expect rubber hangars on an MPi). It's easy enough to make it work whichever way round it is but just another thing to bear in mind in case you need to order clamps or rubber bits.

its easy to fit Steve if you have axle stands or access to a ramp... my RC40 hasn't got hangers on but you could clamp it on - or get hangers welded on... will get a pic of it so you can see the condition of it - I did paint it with red engine paint before putting it on so its in reasonable condition I think

Steve check if you have rubber hanger type fixings or metal clamps.
