Joined today as I saw a '76 1275gt (well it was R reg)in yellow coming out of Brighton, got the guy to roll down his window at the lights and asked "How do I get hold of the Brighton mini club", to which he answered "Two years" :)
If anyone knows who this was, tell him the long haired old git in a red mini with white roof and blowing a bit of smoke says "Hi" :D

Yippeee.
Just reading,,,,,,I missed a meet yesterday grrrrr and I just got Bertie back on the road and was looking for something to do/any excuse to drive him.
The best I got was admiring looks and a brief natter with an old boy in an electric wheel chair as I parked up in george street in Hove:)
Girlfriend was absolutey shocked as she doesn't understand the whole mini thing, its a bit like trying to explain the offside rule

Thanks, yep am mad about mini's, had about eight I think, and currently have a '74 mkIII 1380 with straight cut gearbox and drop gears. Started off with a '78 clubman 1100(was my first car) then had a '79 1275GT then a '74 1400 (best car I ever owned) then a '67 mk I, then a '59 mk I (still got it, and still restoring it slowly) and a couple of others that were wrecks but were still fun.

Welcome to the club site weepy. hope you enjoy. Nice collection of minis you've had there. nice that you've got a '59 mkI I bet you're trying realy hard to restore it to perfection, lol :) . will be good if you get it all sorted and out there again, I wonder who else can say they've got a first year mkI??

I'm sure I saw one at the london Brighton run, parked up on Madiera Drive.
I've had it since '92 I think and not done an awful lot with it since 93 when I bought a house, married, divorced, losing house,,,, ohhh so many bridges and so much water, but mini's always remain faithful :) :)

Yep, like nothing on earth, used to beat and upset a huge amount of cars and to quote another mini driver "thats not fair I was flat out and you shot passed me and changed into top"
Also got questioned coming out of silverstone at the mini 30th do "that can't be an 850 :) :) ,,,,,,,,,boot badges are great aren't they :) :)

Oh gee's yes, she has gone took my dog Iggy(which I got back)left all her stuff, taking me for everypenny etc, but she did make me realise that I do actually have a life by doing what she did, so now have a girlfriend (9years younger than me,,YAY) and bought my min back in October and enjoyed the last two years more than the previous 12.
All so personal so early on :D :D

There is often a mini parked at the end of westbourne gardens in Hove, is that anyones on here???

Yeah I bet your '74 1400 did beat quite a few other cars, what with the power to weight ratio. and that is quite funny if you had an 850 boot badge on it, lol. I bet most peeps thought - there's no way that it can be an 850!

I haven't spotted that one but I live a bit further down the road in Westbourne villas, so if you see a blue mini van with a big stripe over the top parked down there it's mine

I shall have a look next time I'm down, my girlfiend (not a typo:) ) lives in westbourne gardens, so if you have seen a red mini white roof, white circles on doors and bonnet with 4 lucas spots (just got them and am very pleased with the look)and full roll cage, thats my Bertie.
And with the gearing I had on my 1400 it did around about 120-125 mph:D , escort drivers hated me:)
