I've just put 5x12 Revolite wheels from Midland Wheels on the Mayfair and they protrude a good couple of inches at the front which is a bit of a bummer as they are not suppose to need any body mods. Do I just fork out for wider arches or is there an alternative ? The MOT is looming so maybe the steel wheels will have to go back on again for that.

They also rub on the front wheel arch as you turn left or right which can be remedied I presume by remodelling the arches ? assuming that the suspension is OK.

As Steve said get yourself some nice arches but before you put them on reform the front arch to take the new wheels. To do this and make a nice neat job follow the instructions at the bottom of this page. The rest of the article is a great read and will give you a bit of understanding on suspension and wheels and tyres.

I think pretty much any aftermarket wheels need body mods as the 12" steelies are only 4.5" wide, not 5". Also the rubber 'doughnuts' have probably sagged with age making the car lower and more likely to catch the arch on the tyre. And then theres offsets... Basically it's impossible to tell if you will need body mods before putting different wheels on your car, all minis are different.

What arches do you have on your car now - is it the standard black plastic ones?

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I've just bought some group 2 arches and now just need the time to get it all sorted.
