just made the decision to buy a mini (1990). Needs a bit of work but all subframes and underneath bits n bobs are solid.... bodywork at front needs some attention but i hope to get the old girl back to her glory soon! TTFN

Hi and many thanks to all for making me feel welcome....

I dont have any pics yet as i havent even collected it yet, tonight, i hope.
As far as what needs doing... the main bits that seem to go on a mini, so I've been told, like the subframe, A frames , floor, engine mounts etc seem to be solid. It looks like the bits that aren't ok is the cosmetics. Drivers door is a replacement. Bit of rust on the passenger door and area. Might need a head gasket job. But it runs, it has a current MOT and I fancy having a go at restoring my mini to something i wanna be proud of!.....

I am a complete amateur and novice at this so all your help will defo be needed!

All I know for now is .... 1990 (H) mini city in silver..... first time i sat in it was tuesday and it took me back to my Mums old Rally Cross mini. purple old B reg i seem to recall, in the 70's..... yes im that old hehe

LOL indeed i do. I remember approaching Blindley Heath hump back bridge when i was a cub scout in the 70s..... light speed it felt like.... guess that wot happens when u leave the rally cross engine in (dont ask me wot it was, i wasnt even 10 then) We took off and landed somewhere near East Grinstead LOL.

I've delayed the collection of my mini:( but the previous owner is gonna bung it through an MOT first and then I'll collect. At least i can drive my mini and work on it at the same time. Oh BTW i'm still a learner driver (long story) but my plan is to get the mini and me ready for the next London to Brighton... fingers crossed ;) :)

Should be paid for Sunday. Previous owner promised a full MOT before i pick him up. The owner is a friend of the family and heard I wanted a mini so therefore offered me theirs for 400 quid + all his spare parts, including front panel, door, and lots of others + a years MOT.

And yes I am a special constable.... hoping to be a regular constable very soon... as for stripping lol..... maybe for the right fee!:p :eek: ;)

Went through MOT today... failed on a wheel bearing and a bit of welding needed doing... don't know where cos i didn't put it through. Prev. owner is gonna fix it this weekend and put it through again.

hopefully collect it next week... as I've now paid for it:)
