hi, i wanted to join the brighton mini club and just wondered when your next meeting up coz i'd like to get involved!

i live in brighton and brought my 1979 mini clubman 998cc saloon down, last month.

i love it very much as its my first car and the one i learnt to drive in and its taken me so many different places with very little complaints1

hoping for help and advice on finding a decent mechanic and learning how to do up my car and most importantly save it from the RUST!!

i tried to get on the car mechanics course at city college but im 4 weeks late , doh

yeay im glad there are other clubman people out there, cool.

to be honest when my gran found me this car 2years ago, i thought what is that?! but now i totally love it and prefer clubmans to the other versions.

i wanna save up and get it all stripped down, de-rusted , resprayed, new inside, beef up engine a bit, everything i can afford!

just wish i knew anything about doing up a car.

does anyone live in central brighton??

i live just off saint james street and edward street, on chapel street, minis parked outside if u ever wanna knock on the door and have a cuppa.

Trust me, not all our cars are rust-free!!

Being in the club will help you tons with mechanical know-how, when I joined a few years back I had some basic knowledge (changing spark plugs etc) but now I am confident with a bunch of stuff, and still learning!

I live just over in Hove on Westbourne Villas and a few of the others are in Brighton too.

Rust is a never ending problem, no matter how much you put into it i'm afraid. We're just over the racehill in Woodingdean. I don't know anything about car engine etcs, but luckily I have a husband that knows a bit and as Darren (RNRMF) has said everyone in the club can help with something or other. Good to have you along.

Just heard today that my mini passed its mot today just gotta find someone to help with collecting him. Damn this provisional licence. He's certainly not rust free but all else is sound. I fancy a challenge. Got a set of foot pedal rubbers today, arrived in the post via ebay. Cost the princely sum of a quid lol
